Abstract

Academician Mykola Dmytrovych Yarmachenko (1928-2010), Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor, former long-term director of the Institute of Pedagogy (1974-1992), a well-known scientist and educator of a galaxy of Ukrainian scientists-pedagogues, belongs to the list of important figures who personify intellectual and spiritual achievements Ukrainian nation. The famous Ukrainian defectologist, teacher and researcher, a scientist with high scientific erudition, went from an inquisitive village boy from Polissia to an academician, became the founder-organizer of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, its first president (1992).
