Abstract

The article reveals the life and scientific-pedagogical path of the prominent defectologist scientist, Academician Vitaliy Ivanovich Bondar. Attention is focused on his work at the Kyiv State Pedagogical Institute named after O.M. Gorky in the position of Dean of the Faculty of Defectology and as the Director of the Institute of Defectology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine (now the Mykola Yarmachenko Institute of Special Pedagogy and Psychology of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine). The contribution of the researcher to the study of issues related to professional and labor training of students of special schools is considered. Emphasis is placed on the significance of the scientist's scientific-pedagogical heritage for modern special education. Reflections are expressed on the future of contemporary higher pedagogical education in the training of defectologist teachers of various profiles.
