Abstract
The article at the theoretical and methodological level substantiates the experience of implementing the “STEM-school for building modular origami” method. It has been proven that the application of the STEAM-education methodology during the implementation of the optional course “STEM-school on building modular origami” provides an opportunity to form additional motivation for education, mathematical and technological competence in students. The concept of “STEM program” has been clarified, by which we understand a program that meets the main criteria, in particular: relevance and innovation of the content; understanding of the program implementation process (what the students do specifically, what conditions and equipment are necessary for effective implementation); the availability of a methodology that allows the program to be used in any educational institution; achievement of educational and educational pedagogical results and availability of tools for its measurement. It has been proven that when implementing the program of the optional course “STEM-school on building modular origami”, a personally oriented approach will ensure the development of individual abilities and creative potential of students, and a competence approach will contribute to the formation of key, subject and interdisciplinary competences, in particular: natural, technological, mathematical, informatics and social. It has been substantiated and proven that the optional course “STEM-school on building modular origami” acts as an effective method for the formation of mathematical competence in gifted youth. It was determined that the novelty of the course lies in the fact that it helps the student to solve scientific and research tasks, forms scientific and critical thinking, develops creative abilities and directs young people to the development of emotional and cultural enrichment. It is outlined that the implementation of the optional course “STEM school on building modular origami” is based on the principles of science, the principles of implementing STEM education, systematicity, accessibility, the connection of learning with life, and an individual approach to learning.
