Abstract

The article reveals the life and scientific-pedagogical path of the defectologist scientist Klavdiya Mykhailivna Turchynska (January 1, 1924 - December 16, 1976). Attention is focused on her work at the Kyiv State Pedagogical Institute named after O.M. Gorky in the positions of Head of the Department of Oligophrenopedagogy and Dean of the Faculty of Defectology. The contribution of the researcher to the study of issues related to the professional orientation of students of special schools is considered. Emphasis is placed on the significance of Klavdiya Mykhailivna Turchynska's scientific-pedagogical heritage for modern special education. Reflections are expressed on the future of contemporary higher pedagogical education in the training of defectologist teachers of various profiles.
