Abstract

The article presents partial results of the All-Ukrainian mass survey conducted as part of the diagnostic and development project "Media Culture in a Pandemic" under the program of the All-Ukrainian experiment "Standardization of a cross-cutting social and psychological model of mass introduction of media education into national pedagogical practice". The survey involved students of educational institutions participating in the experiment from all macro-regions of Ukraine (responses from about 1732 students were taken into account). It was found that more than 75% of students experience somatic discomfort, which manifests itself through back discomfort and headaches, which are directly related to each other. It was also found that students who began to perform various physical exercises more often during distance learning experience less somatic discomfort. The need to supplement media education with a health component is problematized and the need to find forms of physical activity that can be integrated into media-mediated learning to reduce the risks of somatic discomfort in children is outlined.
