Abstract

The problem of determining the criteria for selecting educational material in geography for elementary school students is considered. Attention is focused on the importance of geographic education in forming a comprehensively developed personality and the need to adapt educational content to schoolchildren's age and psychological characteristics. Several key criteria have been identified that must be taken into account when selecting geographic content: scientific credibility and cultural and value orientation.
