Abstract
The article examines the methodological foundations of the formation of environmental competence of pupils during the educational process according to the author's educational program "I Know. I Can. I Act." for out-of-school education institutions in the ecological and naturalistic direction, as well as general secondary education. The methodology of its use presented in the educational and methodological manual of the same name is represented. The goal is to substantiate the methodological foundations of the formation of environmental competence of pupils during the study of the proposed program. To achieve the goal, general scientific and special research methods were used: analysis, synthesis, systematization, comparison, and generalization - to establish the degree of development of the specified problem. It is shown that the presented program fully meets the requirements of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education regarding the level of formation of environmental competence through acquired knowledge, skills, formed attitudes, and values. Emphasis is placed on the importance of the formation of environmental competence of pupils for the acquisition of abilities and skills in the selection and research of ecological aspects of any human activity, assessment of the consequences of anthropological influence on the state of the environment; awareness of the biological foundations of rational nature management and nature protection, understanding the need to balance the needs of humanity for comfortable living and the possibilities of environmental resources for their satisfaction. During the implementation of the program, the fulfillment of several tasks is foreseen: to enrich knowledge about ecology, its structure, objects and laws, and relationships between man and the environment; to inculcate the skills of observation, analysis, and assessment of the main components of the environment, in particular, territories affected by hostilities; to develop abilities for research and scientific knowledge of the world; to form the skills of ecologically responsible behavior, awareness of the importance of personal environmental activities and in society; to develop the ability to use the acquired knowledge in practical activities, in particular during the development of environmental programs, an action plan for the restoration of territories affected by hostilities; to cultivate a valuable attitude towards nature, a sense of personal responsibility for the state of the environment, etc. The program includes classes, laboratory and practical work, mini-workshops, training, networking, debates, cases, excursions, practical work in nature, observations; creation of lapbooks, and comics; writing programs, action plans, etc.
