Abstract
The article provides a structural and systematic analysis of the process of formation of environmental competence in the educational process of general secondary education. The Laws of Ukraine "On Education", "On Complete General Secondary Education" and the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education are considered. The definitions of the concepts "competence", "environmental competency", the characteristics of the fields of knowledge, and the definition of competencies for students are clarified. A description of the competence potential of environmental competency and requirements for compulsory education of students in terms of 9 areas of education (linguistic and literary, mathematical, natural, technological, information, social and health, civic and historical, artistic, physical culture). The role of the cross-cutting line "Environmental Security and Sustainable Development" in the formation of students' social activity, responsibility, and environmental awareness, which is designed to ensure a caring attitude to the environment with an awareness of the importance of sustainable development for the environment and society. The necessity of providing teachers with subjects from educational fields, in particular, Ukrainian language, Ukrainian and foreign literature, mathematics, chemistry, physics, computer science, geography, etc. has been proved. The necessity of realization of psychological and pedagogical conditions (ensuring the integrity of the end-to-end educational process that forms values; integration of opportunities of general secondary and out-of-school education in the formation of ecological competence of schoolchildren), correction and control over the education of the world. The necessity of providing general secondary education institutions with programs of subjects in educational fields, which are updated by the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education and determine these psychological and pedagogical conditions. Authors systematized educational resources for subject teachers. Resources are guidelines for the development of educational and methodological materials for the implementation of the educational process and ensuring the educational and cognitive activities of students. They are realized through the possibilities of subjects in the formation of the environmental competence of students.
