Abstract

The article highlights the features of professional training of environmental specialists in environmental monitoring for the formation of environmental safety of the state. The importance of formation of professional competencies in environmental monitoring and their application in professional activities that ensure the environmental safety of the state were substantiated. The concepts of "postgraduate education" and "professional education" were analyzed. The levels of postgraduate education for the specialists in environmental monitoring were determined according to organizational forms (retraining, specialization, advanced training, internships and obtaining a scientific degree). The main task of retraining was determined to acquire new theoretical and applied and special-professional competencies on the basis of previously acquired academic degree (bachelor, specialist, master) and working experience, obtaining another specialty; the aim of specialization is the acquisition of new professional competencies within the existing specialty, in particular the ability to do certain tasks and perform duties that have certain applied (branch) features. Professional competencies for environmental specialists in the system of postgraduate education that will ensure the formation of national environmental safety were highlighted. It was established that the development of professional competencies of specialists ensuring environmental safety is in need for acquisition of skills to evaluate environmental hazards, depending on their characteristics; to apply the methods of mathematical statistics, system analysis, probability theory, mathematical modeling and theoretical analysis for the solution of the problems of environmental safety; to the planning, preparation and implementation of preventive measures that provide the minimal negative impact of natural and technogenic processes on human life and environmental stability; to make decisions on the systematic provision of environmental safety.
