Abstract

Social optimism is determined as a means of counteracting destructive media influences. In author’s model social optimism is component of the stability of the individual as the factor of subjection to media-traumatization. Other factor is self-regulation, it is determined by media activity and tolerance to uncertainty. The connection of social optimism with locus control and self-regulation of personality is empirically proven. Media-literacy is the highest level of media activity and contributes to the formation of social optimism in youth.
