Abstract
The article deals with theoretical aspects of the development of self-management of the head of a general secondary education institution. Scientific approaches to the idea of using self-management as a tool for increasing labour productivity in educational institutions are presented. The essence of the concept of "self-management" is analysed. The following components of self-management are highlighted: impression management, career management, resource management, stress management, time management, team management. Attention is focused on the need for systematic and continuous development of self-management of heads of general secondary education institutions. The conceptual approaches to the development of self-management by L. Seiwert, B. Schwalbe and H. Schwalbe, V. Kolpakov, M. Lukashevych, M. Woodcock and D. Francis, K. Bischoff and A. Bischoff, J. Morgenstern are presented. The functions according to the concept of L. Seiwert ("planning", "decision", "organisation and implementation", "control") and the principles of self-management according to V. Lugova and S. Golubev (scientific, effective, balanced, harmonious, efficient, adaptive, comprehensive, systematic) are considered. The main list of knowledge and skills for managers of general secondary education institutions, which should be obtained as a result of mastering self-management technologies, is determined. In the future, it is expected to disclose the essence of the author's concept of self-management of the head of a general secondary education institution of the XXI century and to create a model for the development of self-management of the head of a general secondary education institution.
