Abstract
The article provides a theoretical analysis of an investigation by world scientists on the psychological security of the educational environment and self-actualization related to various aspects of professional activities. An empirical study of the impact of psychological security of the educational environment on the self-actualization of teachers of professional higher educational institutions depending on other factors (age, field of education, qualification category, place of residence and marital status) is analyzed. The participants of this study were 290 teachers of pedagogical colleges from different regions of Ukraine. To determine the level of self-actualization of teachers, the well-known questionnaire «The Self-actualization test» by E. Shostrom was used; the level of psychological security of the educational environment was determined by the method of I. Baeva «Psychological security of the educational environment», modified by O. Bondarchuk. The study found the following results: the educators who have a high level of self-actualization, but are in a low level of psychological environment often find reserves for the disclosure of internal potential outside the main professional activity: in the family, research or in other types of collaboration. As for the teachers with an average level of self-actualization the attitude of colleagues, of the authorities of the institution, students, emotional discomfort, fear of being able to express their views and not be ridiculed, as well as a timid desire to show initiative and activity leads to a low level of psychological security. The indicators in the study of the conformity of the self-actualization levels to the levels of psychological security of the educational environment depending on the place of residence (city, village) and marital status (married, unmarried) were radically different. Based on the analysis of variance, it is concluded that the importance of psychological security for the disclosure of internal potential, the formation of higher-level of self-actualization is more inherent in teachers of: 1) higher qualification category, 2) socio-humanitarian education, 3) academic leaders and respondents who are not leaders of academic groups, 4) teachers aged 30 to 40, 5) married ones.
