Abstract
In our time of continuous informatization and rapid increase of information, the demand of modern society for education is constant improvement of knowledge and professional competences of pedagogical workers based on their mastery of new educational and information and digital (ICT) technologies. ICT and media technologies provide teachers with the opportunity to access a large amount of data, allow them to develop professional competences and improve the quality of their own lives. Today, we observe a constant increase in the influence of the media on the formation of the worldview of the younger generation. It is the media that are becoming a means of distance education and a source of informal education. In these conditions, media education should direct this process to ensure the openness of education, the correspondence of knowledge to the current state of development of equipment and technologies, and the formation of a critical perception of information by the subjects of education.
