Abstract
In the article, the author analyses scientific sources in which the concept of "independent work" is considered, but this type of educational activity requires certain methodical recommendations for its implementation by both the teacher and the student. The multifaceted of this issue also determines the variety of approaches to the interpretation of the very concept of "independent work" in relation to related concepts: "independent activity", "independence", "self-education". The author of the article in her further pedagogical investigations will use the definition that "independent work" is a type of educational and cognitive activity that takes place under the indirect guidance and control of the teacher, during which students apply, develop and objectify knowledge, abilities, skills, personal qualities and key and subject competencies, all this is described in detail in the text of the article.
