Abstract

Today, primary school students are children who grow, form and develop under the influence of digital technologies. The constant presence in the online space shapes the new generation, first of all, the abilities they need to be in the digital world. The publication actualizes the scientific discourse on the peculiarities of cognitive processes, behavioral and socio-personal characteristics of modern primary school students, their likely impact on teaching methods and practices, and the identification of guidelines for learning interaction with primary school students. As a result of studying and analyzing sources from various fields of knowledge, the article summarizes and characterizes new abilities of students, such as multitasking, clip thinking, net surfing, etc., as well as changes in the course of learning and cognitive processes (impaired concentration, rapid switching, reduced auditory memory, decreased analytical and increased synthetic perception, loss of ability to perceive large texts, etc.). It is concluded that it is essential to understand the characteristics of modern students to develop successful strategies of learning interaction with them; the need to optimize the conditions and requirements for the educational process; search for effective ways to present educational content, its volume, emotional coloring; introduction of partnership techniques, rethinking the role of the teacher, taking into account other standards of communication and relationships; emphasizing the crucial importance of organizing the learning and cognitive activities of junior schoolchildren in such a way as to maximize the benefits and offset the losses of students from being in the digital space.
