Abstract

The article focuses on the historical path of development of mental orthopedics as an important direction of special pedagogy. The study reveals the attitude towards mental orthopedics at different stages of the development of defectology and suggests options for introducing mental orthopedics into the correctional and educational process of a special school with an emphasis on the role of nature. The article shows the importance of the excursion as a method of organizing extracurricular work on the example of a specific excursion with students of the fourth grade of a special school in the Botanical Garden named after M. Grishko of the NAS of Ukraine. Examples of the introduction of interdisciplinary connections in the process of conducting an excursion lesson in nature are described.
