Abstract

Changes in information and communication technologies towards the spread of media creativity of users contribute to the development of media art therapy. The article analyzes blogging as a type of media creativity: its features, types, functions, psychotherapeutic effects. It is discovered important to consider the blogging as a form of communication, a form of discourse, a tool for building identity, a way of reflection and narrative as a result. Emphasis is placed on such feature of blogging as the intersection of private and public. Among the functions of the blog are: communication, entertainment, creativity, reflection, self-expression, self-development, selfidentification, social activity and support. The positive aspects related to blogging are reviewed in detail: enjoyment of creativity as a process, feedback, forthcoming to the ideal self, transfer of information, a sense of usefulness"; self-improvement, a sense of achievement, success; self-expression (from the application of various creative modalities to reaching a huge audience) and self-actualization; emotional support, increasing the self-esteem of the blogger, self-confidence, expanding communication opportunities. The advantages of blogging as a form of media art therapy are analyzed: the possibility of creative expression, familiarity and availability of modern media, facilitating contact, receiving emotional support, acceptance, recognition of value and significance, forming a sense of «We», group identification, sense of belonging. It is noted that blogging as a form of media art therapy can be a means of self-regulation and stress reduction, a means of increasing social capital and social support in difficult life circumstances, a tool for developing and improving self-esteem, establishing and maintaining contacts and human communication. The use of blogging in pedagogy will increase the general level of media culture of children and youth and will contribute to the becoming a creative socially active personality, the formation of its identity and self-knowledge, will develop reflection, spontaneity and sociability, will promote social connections, will strengthen mental health and overcome consequences of psychotrauma.
