Abstract
In the context of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, the national education system in general and the system of general secondary education in particular have faced unforeseen challenges in the organisation and implementation of the educational process. The current situation in the Ukrainian system of general secondary education is unique, since the educational (learning) losses of students caused by the suspension of the educational process due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the full-scale military invasion of Russia continue to accumulate. In this regard, the main task facing Ukrainian scientists and practitioners is to develop specific effective mechanisms for organising and implementing the educational process in Ukrainian schools in accordance with external unpredictable and dynamic destructive influences caused by martial law in the country, and the main task of the general secondary education system is to ensure an efficient educational process to minimise educational (learning) losses of students. In the article, the authors analyse, systematise and summarise the results of research by Ukrainian and foreign scholars to determine the specifics of the organisation of the educational process in present-day schools and to identify effective means of minimising the educational (learning) losses of students caused by learning gaps caused by unpredictable global impacts (the Covid-19 pandemic, natural disasters, war, etc.). The results obtained are presented in the context of substantiating the didactic features of the organisation of the educational process in general secondary education institutions under martial law in Ukraine, as well as developing general recommendations for optimising the educational process in general secondary education institutions in today's realities. Namely, the authors determine the expediency of: (1) adapting the existing didactic models of the educational process in accordance with modern conditions; (2) maximising the potential of mixed/hybrid/hybrid-flexible forms of organisation of the educational process in general education institutions to improve its effectiveness; (3) continuing the New Ukrainian School reform; (4) taking into account the experience of the European Union countries in introducing distance and mixed learning formats; using the possibilities of formal, non-formal and informal education; (5) maximum involvement of all participants in the educational process in partnership to optimise learning.
