Abstract
Among the ten competencies of the New Ukrainian School, an important place is communication in the state and native (in case of difference) languages, which is based on the ability to verbally and in writing express and interpret concepts, thoughts, feelings, facts and views (through listening, speaking, reading, writing , the use of multimedia tools), on the ability to respond with linguistic means to the full range of social and cultural phenomena (at school, at work, at home, in free time) and on the awareness of the role of effective communication. Pupils studying in classes taught in the languages of national minorities must master two languages - the state language and their mother tongue. In this case, special attention is focused on learning the Ukrainian language. Proficiency in the state language is one of the most important duties of every citizen of Ukraine, a key to his successful socialization and maximum personal fulfillment in various spheres of human activity.
