Abstract

The paper emphasizes the problem of preserving the Ukrainian language among schoolchildren of the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States. It is noted that a whole network of Ukrainian schools has developed in America, both under public organizations (UCCA - Ukrainian Congress Committee of America) and churches, in particular, Ukrainian Catholic schools. It is noted that the following subjects were taught in Ukrainian studies schools: Ukrainian language and literature, history and geography of Ukraine, and culture of Ukraine. For the most part, teaching is conducted in Ukrainian. It is concluded that the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States makes every effort to preserve its native language and Ukrainian culture.
