Abstract
The article addresses the pressing issue of today: the optimization of the educational process in a gymnasium under war conditions using STEM education methods. The authors achieve the set goal by identifying STEM education tools that are effective for optimizing the educational process in a gymnasium under war conditions. This involves identifying key problems of the educational process in a gymnasium during wartime, presenting solutions to these problems, and drawing conclusions about the effectiveness of applying STEM technologies for optimization in such conditions. The STEM-oriented approach is presented as an innovative direction with advantages over competency-based, activity-based, and person-centered approaches. The concepts of "optimization" and "optimization in education" are elucidated for the readers. Results of surveys conducted among teachers and students using Google Forms are presented, which helped determine how the STEM-oriented approach has been implemented in the educational process of gymnasiums and whether it contributes to optimization under war conditions. It was found that approximately one-third of general secondary education institutions actively use the STEM-oriented approach in organizing the educational process, while the rest use elements of this approach or do not use it at all. The problems of implementing this approach are described, including the lack of educational and methodological support, insufficient material and technical base, unpreparedness of pedagogical staff, and the absence of methodology for involving STEM education tools. Suggested solutions to these problems include developing necessary educational and methodological support, improving the material and technical base, training staff, and using STEM education tools (blended learning, differentiated approach, project-based student activities, involving experts, using digital resources) with methodological support to optimize the educational process in wartime conditions. The conclusions are made regarding the appropriateness and necessity of using this innovative approach to improve the educational process in general secondary education institutions.
