Abstract
The complex of memories of pupils of the Yanush Korchak the famous Polish teacher, doctor and writer, recorded by the Judaic teacher and anthropologist Marcia Talmadge Schneider in the early 2000s is analyzed in article. The purpose of the article is to determine the informational potential and significance of the memoirs of six pupils of the House of Orphans in Warsaw for the study of the pedagogical activity and views of Ya. Korchak and the reconstruction of his prosopographical portrait as an educator and a person of his era. The relevance of the article is due to the growing interest of Ukrainian scientists and educators in the personality and pedagogical system of Yanush Korchak and the need to deepen biographical studies based on the analysis of complex sources of personal origin. The article is based on the principles of historicism, objectivity and systematicity. General scientific, historical and source studies methods: analytical, synthetic, logical, heuristic, critical, archeographical and others. are applied. The content and determines the thematic range of memories of people who lived in Janusz Korczak's orphanage during the 1920s and 1930s and knew him personally are determined. The level of informational potential of the sources for the study of the system of raising children created by Yanush Korchak, his pedagogical methods and views are determined. The key features of the functioning of the orphanage in Warsaw, the daily life and relationships of its residents, their attitude towards Yanush Korchak are discovered. The conclusions summarize the level of informational potential of memories as a constituent element of the source base of historical-prosopographical, biographical and pedagogical studies devoted to the figure and creative heritage of Janush Korchak. The role of the teacher in the formation of self-awareness, personal values, social position and life principles of his pupils are discrіbed.
