Abstract

We all understand that the appearance of a disabled child in the family is associated with a crisis that affects every member of the family. Chronic illness or disability in one of the family members always leads to a series of changes in the family system, disrupting, in varying degrees of severity and duration, its homeostasis. An analysis of the literature on the subject indicates that there is an ambiguity of views regarding the assessment of the impact of a child’s disability on his healthy siblings. The purpose of the research presented in this article was to analyze the impact of a child’s disability on the development and functioning of his or her non-disabled siblings. The research was carried out among 100 adults with disabled siblings.
