Abstract
The review article is devoted to the problem of legislative regulation of adult education in Ukraine. The key role currently played by adult education in solving many economic challenges, overcoming social inequality, forming responsibility and trust in society, improving the psychological health of people of different ages is characterized; the development of this educational direction as an integral component of lifelong education is highlighted. The importance of normative and legal provision of adult education is substantiated and the importance of creating a legislative framework in Ukraine, the importance of which is strengthened by the conditions caused by the military aggression of the Russian Federation, is proven. Legislative acts in the field of education and science in the sense of adult education were analyzed and it was emphasized that the existing mechanisms partly complicate the situation, as they contradict each other to a certain extent and generally slow down the development of the domestic system of adult education. Progressive changes that have taken place recently in the field of regulatory regulation of this area are outlined. In particular, the inclusion of Article 18 "Adult Education" in the content of the Law of Ukraine "On Education"; preparation of the draft Law of Ukraine on adult education, which defines the legal, organizational and economic principles of the functioning and development of this sphere in Ukraine and outlines the conditions for effective cooperation of interested parties in order to realize the right of an adult to continuous education throughout life. The content of the draft Law of Ukraine "On Adult Education", laid out in 10 chapters containing 43 articles, final and transitional provisions and its role in the development of the national system of adult education, is characterized. The combination of certain risks, which is associated with the further postponement of the adoption of the Law on Adult Education for Ukraine, is substantiated.
