Abstract
The paper examines a critical situation regarding population reproduction, specifically focusing on the conditions created in Ukraine to support childbirth and promote the birth of healthy children at the state level. It is noted that up to 6% of newborns in Ukraine have congenital developmental defects, which constitute a major cause of child mortality and disability. The connection between the consequences of post-traumatic stress disorder and reproductive health is acknowledged to be bidirectional. The relevance of research in this direction is unquestionable, yet the issue remains open today. It is pointed out that we should expect a deterioration of health even across generations after the direct impact of various war-related factors through the activation of epigenetic mechanisms. Therefore, the question of shifting from a treatment-oriented policy to a health strengthening and preservation policy for the population, prevention of emergencies, epidemic prevention, and disease prevention emerges as a timely and urgently addressed matter.
