Abstract
The content of the article is about a comprehensive approach to studying science subjects at school, in particular geography. The author reveals the value orientations in the conditions of the implementation of the new State standard of basic secondary education, where a significant role is assigned to local history. In accordance with the Concept of the New Ukrainian School, new curricula, textbooks, manuals are appearing, in which the role of Ukrainian studies, identification, patriotism, local studies is increased, especially after the invasion of the Russian Federation (the aggressor country) on the territory of Ukraine, and in order that in the lessons the cognitive interest of geography has not disappeared, it is necessary to conduct classes with elements of a cognitive goal, using visual material, to encourage students to search and research activities.
