Abstract
The changes that are taking place in education today encourage teachers to use teaching methods that would maximize the individual needs of students with intellectual disabilities, take into account their interests and correspond to their level of ability. The article emphasizes the importance of innovative activities of an educational institution, which involves the search for and implementation of effective methods of teaching and upbringing of students with intellectual disabilities. The difficulties faced by students with intellectual disabilities in learning are outlined. Teaching students with intellectual disabilities is not an easy task. The strategies that teachers use to teach students with intellectual disabilities should be universal and flexible, meet the educational needs of students and meet the goal of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education, namely to develop students' natural abilities, interests, and talents, to form the competencies necessary for their socialization, etc. The purpose of the article is to consider the possibilities of using the KWL table in teaching students with intellectual disabilities. To achieve this goal and reveal the topic, the methods of systematization and generalization of the studied material were used. The article emphasizes the importance of innovative activities of an educational institution, which involves the search for and implementation of effective methods of teaching and upbringing of students with intellectual disabilities. The difficulties faced by students with intellectual disabilities in learning are outlined. The KWL strategy is considered, which is designed to help students develop skills to control text comprehension and promotes awareness of how they can use their knowledge to determine what they want to learn. The abbreviation KWL is explained. The option of adapting the KWL table for use in the educational process of students with intellectual disabilities is proposed. The advantages of using the KWL table are characterized. The possibilities of using the KWL table in teaching students with intellectual disabilities are revealed, the algorithm for working with it is described, and examples of its use are given. Prospects for further research include determining the effectiveness of using KWL tables for the formation of subject and key competencies of students with intellectual disabilities.
