Abstract
The article deals with the problem of modernization of the system of general secondary education as an important pedagogical condition for the professional development of personality. It is noted that the success of the process of becoming a professional capable of creatively and initially solving difficult tasks is largely determined by the quality of school education, its focus on taking into account the needs of a child, developing his/her personal potential, forming key competencies as a guarantee of successful adult life. The priority directions of qualitative updating of the national system of general secondary education are singled out and analyzed. It is emphasized that the priority steps are the improvement of the content of education and the introduction of modern technologies and methods for its implementation on the basis of child-centered and competency-based education, the creation of textbooks of a new generation, improvement of the system of professional pedagogical education and its orientation towards the training of an innovative teacher. The necessity of carrying out systematic scientific and methodical support of the process of development of modern school education is substantiated and its possible ways of realization on the example of the Institute of Pedagogy as one of the leading institutes of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine are analyzed. The priority directions of academic pedagogical research aimed at ensuring the functioning of general secondary education are determined.
