Abstract

Purpose: To characterize the psychological features of reflecting on the bodily experience as a means of self-acceptance. Methods: Analysis of psychological literature related to the research problem; comparison, synthesis, and interpretation of conceptual positions; modeling as a method for constructing and analyzing a theoretical model of the individual's bodily experience reflection in the context of self-acceptance, achieved through studying its basic components, levels of formation, and individual's reflective styles. Research Results: Within the framework of the psychological-hermeneutic approach, the individual's bodily experience is analyzed as a communicative-semiotic process of forming, organizing, accumulating, and transmitting bodily knowledge and practices. In the process of self-acceptance, bodily experience is primary, providing the coordinate system for the individual's understanding and self-construction, forming the basis for more complex forms of personal experience. Components of bodily experience include: experiencing bodily sensations, forming and developing "bodily images," mastering one's own body and bodily skills. The individual's capacity for self-acceptance is determined by psychological traits such as self-composition, subjective control, meaningful life orientations, and prospective orientation of individual experience. In the context of self-acceptance, reflecting on the bodily experience is viewed as the ability of the individual to provide awareness of the processes of forming personal experience and their foundation. This includes the ability to operate with bodily sensations, integrate various "bodily reactions," and establish methods of bodily self-regulation. Originality of the article's results lies in the first-time definition of content and structural features of reflecting on the bodily experience as a factor in individual self-acceptance, criteria, and levels of its formation. Practical Significance of Research Results: The defined features of reflecting on bodily experience in the context of personal self-acceptance and characteristics of individual's reflective styles can serve as a basis for further scientific and methodological developments aimed at providing psychological support for personality development in various fields of modern society: education, sports, psycho-corrective and rehabilitation practices. Conclusion. In the context of the issue of self-acceptance, reflecting on the bodily experience combines four interrelated dimensions of bodily awareness and experiences: bodily sensations that the individual is conscious of; the quality of their attention to their own bodily experience; the direction of bodily awareness and experiences; integration processes in the "body-mind" system. A three-level model of the individual's bodily experience reflection development has been developed and analyzed. This includes the formation of a constructive reflective style of the individual as a means of self-acceptance, consisting of identification (pre-reflective), interpretive, and meaningful (meta-meaningful) levels. Their specificity is determined by ways of organizing the individual's bodily experience, its textual objectification, methods, and procedures of understanding. Future research prospects are linked to the development of an effective training environment for the productive reflection on bodily experience in the context of self-acceptance under conditions of prolonged psychologically traumatic life circumstances.
