Abstract

At the current stage of Ukraine's development as a European state that embodies progressive social values, the issues of tolerance, equality, and inclusiveness are especially timely. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has created a Barrier-free Council (advisory body), whose activities are aimed at defining mechanisms and unifying efforts to create a barrier-free space. On the initiative of Olena Zelenska, the National Strategy for the Creation of a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine for the Period Until 2030 was adopted, which provides for work in six areas, one of which is "information barrier-free" (the conditions under which people, regardless of their functional impairments or communication capabilities, have access to information in various formats and using technologies that take into account their needs and capabilities). So far, the government has approved the Action Plan for the implementation of the Strategy for 2023-2024, which includes eight priority projects that will be implemented by relevant ministries. Among the main points of emphasis are: barrier-free space, barrier-free goods, barrier-free services, barrier-free information. According to the specified priorities, each ministry will implement clear tasks, the implementation of which will bring Ukraine closer to European barrier-free standards. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine is actively involved in the work on creating a barrier-free space and accessible services. At the same time, today the ability to effectively interact with patients is considered an important competency in modern medicine; the doctor's communication skills have a positive effect on the effectiveness of the intervention, build trust, and help avoid mistakes. Therefore, in the framework of improving the qualifications of dentists (regarding the ethical foundations of the profession of a doctor), it is important to conduct work on familiarization with current issues of professional communication between doctors and patients who need additional adjustments/adaptations (needs may be due to hearing, vision, speech, support locomotor apparatus, etc., social factors - internally displaced persons, participants in hostilities, people affected by war, psychological trauma, etc.), which will contribute to improving the quality of medical services.
