Abstract

The paper analyzes the terminological field of the scientific problem of transversal competencies in education. The concepts of "transversal competencies" or "transversal skills" are clarified. The problem of the need for further modernization of the content of curricula in the EU countries on the basis of the competence paradigm is outlined. It is noted that transversal competencies need to be developed in the context of all academic subjects at school. The best methods for teaching students transversal competencies are identified, including: group presentations, field research, individual projects and presentations, and extracurricular activities. It is concluded that transversal competencies allow students to expand their opportunities, skills and abilities in the future, and help them become more effective and socially active citizens of their country.
