Abstract
The theses reveal the bright and unique personality of Mykola Dmytrovych Yarmachenko as a well-known, well-known defectologist-deaf teacher in Ukraine and abroad; it was found out that the scientist's creative output is more than 300 works in the field of pedagogy. It has been established that a significant part of M. D. Yarmachenko's legacy is a number of works on the methodology and history of deaf pedagogy, in particular it is proven that M. D. Yarmachenko devoted a lot of attention to the education, upbringing and socialization of children with hearing impairments, as well as the history of deaf pedagogy in Ukraine. The academician was one of the first to thoroughly research the history of defectology and deaf pedagogy as a science.
