Abstract
The article examines the current problem of the development of children's book publishing in Ukraine for younger schoolchildren in the 21st century. Modern scientific research on the evolution of children's books is analyzed; modern directions of development and transformational processes in the field of book publishing for children are highlighted. Features of new kinds and types of traditional paper and electronic children's books are revealed in terms of content, form, subject matter, authorship, methods of interaction of the child with the text, including publications that integrate classic and digital formats. The essential characteristics of vіmelbukhs, comics, books in the format of diaries, letters, non-fiction literature, bilingual, audio books, augmented reality books, etc. have been clarified. The article emphasizes the potential of these types of publications to diversify the ways and forms of students' interaction with the text, the book, to positively influence the development of reading motives and various aspects of children's reading activities. The examples of books with audio accompaniment show their potential to promote the development of auditory skills, various types of memory, mechanisms of visual perception, tactile sensations, and the formation of individual components of reading skills. It is substantiated that children's books with augmented reality – AR-technologies with animated images, musical accompaniment, interesting games encourage younger school readers to familiarize themselves with the plot of the books in full, and coloring books created to accompany the children’s books – collections of outline drawings based on illustrations, interesting educational tasks based on the content of the texts have a positive effect on the development of creative abilities, creative imagination, fine motility of the child's hands, contribute to a deeper penetration into the plot of the book. Considerable attention is focused in the article on the peculiarities of the readers-younger schoolchildren in the conditions of their active interaction with modern digital technologies; both positive and negative factors of such interaction are highlighted.
