Abstract
The purpose of this scientific study is to prove the expediency of using the positive, consolidating potential of political myth to form a new value system and implement progressive social changes by studying the processes of mythologisation of mass consciousness, revealing the motivational, semantic and value-creating functions of myth. It is shown that the mythological model of the world is not only the integrity, indivisibility, and inseparability of ideas and explanations of the world, which is based on the identity of macro- and microcosm, nature and man. It is also a kind of value synthesis of the assessment of the past, explanation of the present and ideas about the future, a combination of several generations' existence through the system of values, concepts, traditions, and culture created by society. It is emphasised that myth was (and in many ways still is) the basis of meaning-making, a life guide. A characteristic feature of myth is the ability to create an ideal, consistent and complete model of the world, a system of knowledge about the environment and the place of man in it.
