Abstract

According to international and domestic research, one of the primary tasks of Primary Education is to develop the students’ skills when working with scientific and cognitive texts. This will contribute to the development of students’ interest in learning, expand their horizons, and foster concern for the world around them. However, the question arises of developing a didactic apparatus for working with such literature in the Educational process. One of the options for solving this problem can be the use of methods of visualization of educational information, in particular, the creation of visual structures “portrait”(qualitative representation of the object), “diagrams” (an image that clearly shows the ratio of any quantities), “maps”(displaying the relative location and / or relationship of the studied objects), “time scale” (visual representation of qualitative / quantitative changes in objects or their spatial mutual location in time), “flowcharts” (visualization of interaction of objects, changes in their qualitative and quantitative characteristics and ratios). The construction of visual images using visualization methods (including for processing scientific and cognitive texts) should be conscious and structured. Another important aspect that must be taken into account when using them is the peculiarities of perception and thinking of Primary School children. Visualization methods can be used to analyse scientific and cognitive texts, form a holistic vision of the material presented in them, highlight essential and secondary details, and promote the students’ creativity in finding answers to questions about the text and solving research problems. Their application is also the basis for the development of communication skills, empathy, creativity, as well as speech, memory and thinking (logical, systemic and critical) of students.
