Abstract
The article considers the main currents of the relationship between social pedagogy and social work typical for European countries. Germany is characterized by the combination of both disciplines, in Britain there is a clear differentiation, and social pedagogy is at the stage of formation here. In France, social pedagogy is not at all separated into a separate branch, but is a pedagogical component of psychoanalytic theories and humanistic psychology. Central and Eastern European countries are characterized by the integration of both disciplines while preserving their complete independence.
