Abstract

The topic of mental traumatization of a small child as a result of experiencing stress of a high degree of intensity or duration is not sufficiently developed both in medical and special psychology. The possibility of stress disorders in young children has long been questioned by doctors, psychologists, and psychiatrists. It was believed that the high plasticity of a young child's psyche, together with the insufficient development of long-term memory, prevent the formation of persistent cognitive or emotional disorders due to emotional shock and that this allows a newborn, a 2-3-year-old child, and a preschooler to avoid the delayed consequences of stressful experiences.
