Abstract

The importance of the interdisciplinary field of the science of pedagogical biography as a component of history of education for preservation of the Ukrainian people’s national memory has been revealed. Methodological foundations of acquiring pedagogical biographical knowledge have been outlined. The necessity of rethinking pedagogical biographical knowledge and a new reading of portraits of educators of the imperial and Soviet era in the context of decommunization, de-sovietization, and de-russification have been reasoned. The expediency of a comprehensive presentation of biographical information about teachers of the second half of the 19th – beginning of the 21st century has been substantiated. in the encyclopedic biographical dictionary.
