Abstract
In order to find out the development of the ability to mental self-regulation of the students of education, it is important to define and justify the criteria, indicators and methods of its diagnosis. The analysis of scientific literature indicates the presence of several approaches to the interpretation of the concept of "criterion". In the encyclopedic dictionary, the concept of "criterion" is interpreted as a means, judgment, sign, on the basis of which evaluation, definition or classification of anything is carried out; evaluation measure.
