Abstract
The article examines the principles of humanism and tolerance in the philosophical and educational views of Ukrainian figures of the first half of the 20th century. It is shown that the national program of education of children and student youth in Ukraine is an important and effective scientific basis for the implementation of state policy in the field of education, which determines the strategy of education of the younger generation in the conditions of the formation of civil society in independent Ukraine. In connection with the scientific and technical revolution and the rapid development of science at the beginning and throughout the 20th century, the ideas of humanism in postmodernism had a new development of the need to create an ideal. The problems faced by the modern school and faced by the teacher are revealed. This happens because pupils and students live in a multinational Ukrainian society, where differences in value systems and principles are often the source of conflict situations. The events that took place in the 20th - at the beginning of the 21st century are highlighted: violence and tolerance as trends in the development of modern society gained serious development and underwent a significant evolution. Since social transformations and technological innovations, which are the basis of economic globalization and informatization, have left an imprint on the nature of acts of violence, the tactics of their implementation and methods of countering them. It has been established which of the philosophers, culturologists, political scientists and teachers in the 20th century researched and most actively presented the ideas of the formation of the dialogue of cultures and the principles of tolerance. The definition of tolerance is given and the concept of tolerance, which was formed during the 20th - at the beginning of the 21st century, is substantiated. An analysis of the works of research scientists on the history of the formation and development of the idea of tolerance was carried out. It has been proven that tolerance, both in the distant past and in the conditions of the stormy present, is considered a human virtue and a social value that supports the stability of society. That is, tolerance implies tolerance of the differences of others, without violating their rights and freedoms; observance of the principle of tolerance leads to the spread of democracy and the protection of human rights, and going beyond the limits of tolerance leads to violations of human rights, violence and armed conflicts in a multi-ethnic, multi-confessional or multicultural society.
