Abstract
The article presents the results of an online survey of teachers “Readiness and needs of teachers regarding the use of digital tools and ICT in conditions of war: 2023”, conducted by the Institute of Digitalization of Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine during March - April 2023. 42,708 pedagogical workers took part in the survey, including primary school teachers, subject teachers and the administration of the secondary schools. The survey included a special block of questions, which made it possible to study the peculiarities of the organization of the educational process in secondary schools and to determine the needs of teachers in improving their qualifications to provide psychosocial support to students in wartime conditions. Relevant topics, the knowledge of which teachers need to work and provide psychosocial support to students, have been determined, in particular: games with children that help overcome stress; practical techniques that make it possible to reduce the level of stress and anxiety; professional and emotional burnout: signs, prevention, methods of overcoming; formation of psychological stability skills; provision of psychological first aid to children and adults; psychological self-help, a list of resources for stabilizing and restoring the psychological state; working with parents, how to support parents with a child in a state of stress; knowledge about human reactions to stressful events; peculiarities of working with children who have suffered the loss of loved ones; strategies for returning to the stability zone; war trauma, determining that children are stressed or traumatized; forced resettlement; work with children of internally displaced persons, psychosocial adaptation to another country of forced stay. It was noted that the teachers’ needs are related to the fact that they faced new challenges related to the war, in particular, working with children in the status of internally displaced persons, refugee children who are temporarily in other countries, their own situation, and availability of psychological resources.
