Abstract

In the content of the article, the author emphasizes that local history work on geography is most effective when it has a certain direction and is subordinated to educational tasks that are related to life, and its methods correspond to the age characteristics and interests of students. The main methods of local history used in geography lessons at school include the following: excursions, stories, projects, scientific discussions and debates. The content of the article reveals the importance of the main local history methods and explains the importance of using local material and practical experience of students as a source for expanding knowledge about geography and increasing motivation to study the subject in general secondary education institutions.
