Abstract
The text provides an analysis of the main provisions of the theory of active learning and their application in the practice of developing and implementing the methodology of active learning of history students in the context of the requirements of the reform of the New Ukrainian School and the State Education Standard. The methodology of active learning, which is based on the views of pedagogical constructivism, theories of cognitive psychology, cognitive taxonomy as a method of evaluating educational results, and the theory of interactive learning, is disclosed. The main characteristics of the methodical model of active learning of history, which can ensure the expected results of the educational process, have been determined. New approaches to history teacher training for the New Ukrainian School are proposed.
