Abstract
The evolution of electronic tools for internal control and assessment of education quality from the beginning to the present has been revealed. The development features of mechanical and electronic systems for assessing education quality are discussed, including the emergence of computer programs for testing in the 1980s. The influence of the internet and web technologies on electronic assessment systems in the 1990s and at the beginning of the 21st century is described. Emphasis is placed on the use of gamification and virtual reality to expand student engagement and motivation possibilities, as well as on the role of mobile applications in the modern assessment process. Moreover, the achievements of the 21st century in the field of adaptive testing and the use of artificial intelligence are examined, along with the impact of big data collection and processing technologies on education analytics and the individualization of the learning process. Trend positions regarding gamification and virtual learning environments, their methods and application in contemporary education are summarized, and examples of services and communities that successfully employ these approaches to improve education quality are provided.
