Abstract
The article is devoted to the theoretical and methodological principles of meaning the socio-anthropological code of the Ukrainian philosophy of education based on M. Shlemkevych’s concept of a person, where the solution to the specified problem was initiated. It is determined that it is valuable in this area to turn to the educational experience of pedagogy in the second half of 1917–1991. The important contribution of M. Shlemkevych to the development of socio-anthropological views in the context of education and upbringing is outlined. The essence of the key research term «anthropology» is revealed. It has been proven that the socio-anthropological approach allows to analyze the evolution of the interaction of man, nature, and society in the historical, social, and biological context. The main conceptual propositions of M. Shlemkevych about man, which were the basis of the development trend of Ukrainian Galician pedagogy of the 20th century, are presented. It was determined that the essence of this trend was the preservation and development of the ethnocultural identity of Ukrainians in the conditions of the colonization of the lands of Ukraine and the justification of the needs of Ukrainians for national revival. Four historical types of the individual’s worldview are distinguished and analyzed, such as: «Shevchenko’s man», who bows before reason and its highest embodiment – science, as well as such a moral ideal as a free spirit; «Gogol’s man» – ethnic Ukrainians who took an active part in the political life of the state; «Skovorodian man», who finds the meaning of his existence in personal spiritual selfimprovement; «old-world landlords» – personifies a personality aimed only at the satisfaction of their primary requests. The scientific position is argued that the methodological basis of the formation of the Ukrainian worldview according to M. Shlemkevych allows to determine the priority of the attitude towards man, his nature, understanding of coexistence with the world, other people and God, as well as determining factors for the successful development of youth. It was revealed that in the context of M. Shlemkevych’s worldview, he defined socio-cultural conditions as factors of formation of socio-political life of Ukrainian society, such as: freedom of choice, religion, self-improvement, preservation of cultural traditions, etc.
