Abstract

The article discusses one of the topical and modern problems. The purpose of this article is to coverage the problem of forming a successful personality of a senior student in pedagogical theory and practice, to reveal the features of traits inherent in a successful personality of senior student and teachers. Authors analyzed the approaches to the definition of “success”, “successful personality”, “social success”. The study found that these concepts are a complex socio-cultural phenomenon that manifests itself in different contexts: philosophical, pedagogical, psychological and sociological. It is focused on the age characteristics of senior students. According to the results of the study, the features that are inherent in the successful personality of senior student are identified: patriotism, education, health values, ability to take risks, self-esteem, determination, responsibility to oneself and the environment, ability to selfimprovement and self-development, discipline, purposefulness, self-confidence, persistence in achieving goals, creativity. The results of testing for teachers regarding the traits of a modern successful teacher are presented (an educated person with high moral qualities, a patriot, a decisive person with a conscious civic position, quickly responds to changes in society, knows how to work in a team, makes informed decisions, realizes his dreams and goals, leads to success, has a mastery of human relationships). The conclusions state that in the educational environment there is a lack of consistency in work, in particular in such areas as: teachers knowledge of gender characteristics of senior students; partnerships between teachers and student families; development of constructive group interaction; increasing the efficiency of student government activities; attracting students to a healthy lifestyle; partnership interaction of teachers of an educational institution with public organizations; forms, methods and technologies of upbringing prevail, little consideration is given to the inner world of a modern senior student, his interests and needs. Further study of the specified problems which will allow defining and introducing the updated effective forms, methods, technologies of formation of the socially successful personality of senior pupils in system of general secondary education is forecasted.
