Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the leading ideas of the linguistic didactic heritage of I. P. Gudzyk in the context of multilingualism didactics. It was found out that the scientist was one of the first to carefully research the problems of bilingual and multilingual education in the education of independent Ukraine. The main scientific and methodological foundations of the problems of bilingual and multilingual education in the works of the scientist have been determined, taking into account the relevance and social significance of thorough theoretical research and significant practical results. In accordance with the basics of multilingualism didactics, the key methodological and organizational directions of I. P. Gudzyk's research and the implementation of their results in teaching practice were analyzed. In particular, the analysis of the problems of language education in Ukraine; highlighting the historical foundations and difficulties of introducing national languages in school practice; construction of textbooks and manuals for bilingual and multilingual education; introduction of various models of language use in school education; definition of the concepts of the first, second and third languages and features of multilingual education; study of linguistic personality, etc. The interpretation of the concepts "multilingualism", "bilingualism", "interculturality", "polyethnicity", "multiculturalism", "polyculturalism", "multiculturalism of the world", "dialogue of languages and cultures" in the works of the scientist and related problems of behavior stereotypes were studied. intercultural awareness, formation of a positive image of one's compatriots and ways to introduce them into educational practice. More acceptable terms such as "languages of peoples living in Ukraine", "native language and other languages", "teaching native language and other languages" proposed by the researcher were found to be more acceptable as opposed to ambiguous terms "native language", "foreign language", "languages of national minorities". The linguistic and didactic principles of teaching the languages of ethnic minorities are determined by her in terms of functional, competence-based, person-oriented, integrative and other leading approaches to learning. It was established that the results of I. P. Gudzyk’s research on the theory and methods of teaching different languages of the national communities of Ukraine were applied to the definition of content and the development of variable methods, experimentally verified and embodied in the educational programs, textbooks, manuals different language courses created by her (individually and in co-authorship). Separate linguistic and didactic problems of bilingual and multilingual education were revealed within the framework of dissertation research under the scientific supervision of I. P. Gudzyk. It was concluded that the leading ideas of the linguistic didactic heritage of I. P. Gudzyk in the context of the didactics of multilingualism and the generalized results are a good basis for further theoretical and applied research on the linguistic problems of bilingual and multilingual education, a methodological basis for the development of modern educational and methodological support for various language courses – sections of the state standards of primary and basic education, typical curricula and educational programs, textbooks, manuals, reference literature and that the scientific works of the scientist not only have not lost their relevance, but on the contrary now require careful study, rethinking and further implementation in the educational process, because they have a strong scientific basis and contribute to the achievement of modern educational goals.
