Abstract
The research substantiates the reasons for updating the history educational programs, analyzes the changes, in particular, in the content part. Methodological ideas that unify the content of the 2022 programs have been defined, primarily the expression of state-building traditions of the past and present, imperial discourse, multicultural and multi-ethnic accents. It is emphasized that the program on the history of Ukraine 2022 is a current educational document that defines the conceptual foundations of the formation of the content of school historical education, tools for researching the past, its interpretation and reinterpretation. The authors see the prospects of the program in the fact that it contains a methodology for selecting educational material for future model educational programs/textbooks for grades 7-11. Within the scope of scientific exploration, works on the history of early modern Ukraine were considered, in which the role of the Ukrainian nobility was emphasized, the multifaceted nature of the history of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the phenomenon of the Cossack revolution of the 17th century, the practices of the Hetmanate in the early modern era were revealed. To characterize the changes in Ukraine in the 20th century. the multi-ethnic accents of the program, the new concept "USSR – totalitarian empire", the methodological construct "creating the image of the enemy" were chosen. The choice of the sources given in the article is determined not only by their basic functions, but also by the presence of the latest narratives in support of textbook creation.
