Abstract
The concept of basic physical education was created as a framework document defining the key vectors of the development of physical education in institutions of general secondary education. The Concept defines the specifics of various ways of implementing the physical component of basic secondary education in accordance with the new educational standard and the Model Educational Program for grades 5–9 of general secondary education institutions: as an independent subject; in the content of industry integrated courses; in the content of interdisciplinary integrated courses. The conceptual principles of the modernization of physical education in the New Ukrainian School are defined: strengthening its epistemological potential; specification of mandatory results and variability of ways to achieve them; improvement of the concentric structure of the school physics course and its development into a spiral-concentric one. The principles of implementation of the physical component of the science branch of basic secondary education are substantiated: scientificity, accessibility, applied orientation, continuity, integrity and continuity, branch and cross-branch integration, differentiation, logical completeness.
