Abstract
The work outlines strategic guidelines for the modernization of the content on the basis of competence in school education in the countries of the European Union. It is emphasized that the modern school of the countries of the European region faces the task of teaching students the correct and proper use of innovative technologies, in particular digital ones. It was concluded that most European countries have made significant progress in introducing key competencies into the content of national curricula. It was determined that the development of digital competences is a general trend for school education in the EU countries. It is noted that each subject area has a corresponding potential for the formation of a specific key competence in secondary school students.
